The Madeline Island Radio Hour Volume 10, currently in production, is dedicated to our good friend Don Pavel.  This show will feature some of Don's original compositions an a twist on an old standby.  Of course we will hear from Donna and the "Lake Effected", along with Readers Theater and a few interviews.  And some "words of wisdom" as recalled from Don's advice to guitar players.

Don was a founding member of the CharterKats.

 A collection of various musicians including Ed Wilett, Severin Behnen, BJ Whittet, Cheryl Leah, Matt, Julie, Tommy, Jeff and Bobby Vee, Ric and Ben Gillman, George Mauer, Dave Jahnke, Cliff Carroll, Sheri Milburn, a few Oarsman, Benjamin Watts and a host of others.

The CHARTERKATS attempt to unite twice a year.  Once in the Summer for a beach party, and a winter gig to break the ice. Every musician in this band has played these gigs on the island  for the love of music.

The summer gigs culminate into an annual lobster boil, and thus the pay received.  Other revenues generated have been donated to various agencies and organizations on Madeline Island.

 Not only are the CharterKats comprised of these fine musicians, they are supported by community spirit  and volunteer support.  Julie Stryker-North has provided staging and lights, Scott Grabarek, Carl Brooks, Jay Westfield, Troy Nelson, Mike Stanny, Barb Christensen, Bob and Susan Hartzell, Dave Watts, Kelly Nelson and many more have contributed their muscle, talents, accommodations and wisdom to the success of the "Gig".

Event Pro, Inc., Sassafrass Design, Rockhouse Productions, and Madwood Pro-Motion have donated their time and energy to these events.

Our first gathering without Don is Saturday March 1st @ The Bell Street.  It will be a sad heartfelt reunion, as Don made every musician not only sound better, but become better.

And he usually was the first at the lobster pot with plate in hand.
